Hodinová veža, Banská Bystrica

Banská Bystrica

Built in 1552, the Clock Tower stands at the upper end of SNP Square in Banská Bystrica and is the most leaning tower in Slovakia, tilting 68 centimetres from its axis. Climb 101 wooden steps to a viewing platform with a panorama of the whole square, the burgher houses, and in the distance the Kremnica Hills or the Low Tatras. The surrounding square, with its plague column and town castle, is among the most beautiful in Slovakia. The lively centre of Banská Bystrica is an excellent starting point for exploring central Slovakia.
