Červený Kameň Castle above the village of Častá is one of Slovakia's best-preserved and most visited castles. Originally a mighty fortress with vast cellars, it was transformed into a lavish noble residence of the Pálffy family, with richly furnished period interiors. The museum offers tours of the living quarters, the armoury and the underground vaults, and falconry displays are held in the surroundings. It lies in the picturesque setting of the Little Carpathians less than an hour from Bratislava and is a rewarding full-day trip from the area.
