Liptovský Mikuláš – historické centrum

Liptovský Mikuláš

The historic centre of Liptovský Mikuláš is the lively heart of the whole Liptov region, gathered around the long Liberators' Square. It is dominated by the Gothic Church of St. Nicholas and burgher houses, one of which houses the Janko Kráľ Museum – the oldest continuously operating town museum in Slovakia. This is also where the legendary trial of the outlaw Jánošík is commemorated, still part of the town's local colour today. As the transport and cultural gateway to Liptov, Mikuláš is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding caves, valleys and the Tatras.
