Múzeum liptovskej dediny

The Museum of the Liptov Village is an open-air museum located in the village of Pribylina in the Upper Liptov region. It was created in direct connection with the construction of the Liptovská Mara waterworks and was opened to the public in 1991. It's a living open-air museum that captures the appearance of a traditional Liptov village and the way of life in this region.

The origin of the exhibits alone is interesting. The museum is made up of houses from the flooded part of the waterworks area, as well as buildings from the Upper and Lower Liptov regions. This allowed the open-air museum to rescue and preserve architecture that would otherwise have disappeared beneath the reservoir. Visitors can therefore walk among houses that tell the story of the whole region and its transformation.

The museum offers more than just a look at the buildings. There is a zoo exhibit here presenting the breeding of domestic animals, and among the popular attractions is the breeding of Hutsul horses along with the option of horseback riding. In 2001, the equipment of the Považská Forest Railway was relocated to the museum, adding a piece of technical history to the exhibition. For families with children and lovers of folk culture, it's a place full of experiences.
