Múzeum slovenskej dediny

The Museum of the Slovak Village, unofficially known also as Skanzen Martin, is the largest open-air exhibition of its kind in Slovakia. It lies in the Jahodnícke háje forest east of Martin, where a unique collection of folk architecture spreads across an area of 15.5 hectares under the open sky.

Visitors will find as many as 143 exhibits here — original dwellings, farm buildings, sacral structures, and entire homesteads originating from northwestern Slovakia. The individual buildings were carefully relocated and reconstructed to faithfully convey what life, farming, and celebrations were once like in the countryside. A walk through the open-air museum is thus something of a journey through time into the world of our ancestors.
