Rozhledna Žalý
Benecko
The Žalý lookout tower on the eponymous hill (1,019 m) is the only stone lookout tower in the Krkonoše, built at the behest of Count Jan Harrach in 1892. The eighteen-meter tower stands on an exposed spur of the ridge, so its gallery offers an unobstructed panoramic view considered one of the finest in the Czech Republic. In good visibility, you can see the main Krkonoše ridge with Sněžka and far into the interior. A comfortable path leads here from Benecko, as does a chairlift from Herlíkovice, making it a popular destination for those staying in the area.
