Arborétum Mlyňany

Tesárske Mlyňany

The Mlyňany Arboretum of the Slovak Academy of Sciences is a protected area spread near the villages of Tesárske Mlyňany and Vieska nad Žitavou in the Zlaté Moravce district. It covers 67 hectares and was declared a protected area in 1951. Today it also serves as a scientific research site of the Academy.

It is Slovakia's most significant dendrological facility. Its collections hold over 2,300 species of trees and shrubs from the Mediterranean, the Americas, Africa and Asia – a walk through the arboretum feels like a trip around the world.

The grounds are open to the public year-round, except for a few holidays. Evergreen species give the site character even outside the main season, while spring and autumn bring a rich palette of colors.

The Mlyňany Arboretum pairs beautifully with exploring the area around Zlaté Moravce and Topoľčianky, home to manor houses, castles and further natural attractions. It's worth booking accommodation nearby and making the visit part of a longer stay.
