Bobrova raľa (Podbiel)
Podbiel
Bobrova raľa in the village of Podbiel is the largest surviving complex of its kind of original folk architecture in Central Europe. The heritage reservation, designated in 1977, protects 64 log houses from the 19th and early 20th centuries with shingle roofs, stables and granaries typical of rural and pastoral settlement in central Orava. Unlike a classic open-air museum, this is a living village on its original site, with many cottages now serving as holiday accommodation. A walk through its lanes is an authentic trip into the past and a great addition to a stay in Orava.
