Demänovská Dolina
Demänovská Valley is the most famous valley in the Low Tatras, stretching around 15 kilometres. Thanks to its beauty, good accessibility and wealth of natural attractions, it's one of the most-visited destinations in all of Liptov and draws visitors year-round.
The central part of the valley was declared a national nature reserve back in 1929, and its territory is now part of Low Tatras National Park (NAPANT). Nature conservation here has a long tradition, and it's thanks to this that the valley has remained pristine and full of life. The area is also home to the world-famous Demänovská Caves, one of the valley's biggest draws.
The valley offers almost endless opportunities for hiking, cycling and winter sports. In summer, marked trails, mountain streams and ascents to nearby peaks beckon; in winter the valley turns into a popular ski resort. Thanks to its diverse offering, families with children, nature lovers and athletes seeking active relaxation in the mountains will all find something here.
Demänovská Valley is the gateway to the highest reaches of the Low Tatras and is also conveniently accessible from Liptovský Mikuláš. The combination of caves, mountains and ski slopes makes it an ideal year-round holiday destination. To discover everything the valley has to offer, it's worth choosing accommodation right in the valley or nearby, and enjoying the nature of Liptov fully, without unnecessary travel.
