Herliansky gejzír

Herľany

The Herľany Geyser is a unique cold-water geyser created by a borehole drilled between 1870 and 1875 on the grounds of the former Herľany spa beneath the Slanské vrchy hills. At irregular intervals, roughly every 32–40 hours, it spouts highly mineralised water to a height of 7 to 15 metres, with each eruption lasting about 20–30 minutes. It is a designated national natural monument and is on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list. The tranquil setting of the former spa park in the eastern part of the Košice-okolie district is a pleasant excursion destination from accommodation in the region.
