Harmanec Cave in the Veľká Fatra mountains is one of Slovakia's most beautiful show caves. It is famed for its exceptionally white stalactite formations, spacious chambers, wall waterfalls and bat colonies. A switchback path with an elevation gain of about 260 metres leads to the entrance, and the tour itself takes about an hour. It is a popular destination for outings northwest of Banská Bystrica and an ideal stop during a stay in the surrounding villages.
