Premonštrátsky kláštor Jasov

The Premonstratensian monastery in Jasov, with its Church of St. John the Baptist, is one of the most valuable examples of late-baroque and rococo art in Slovakia. The extensive complex was built in 1766 to a design by architect Anton Pilgram and boasts magnificent fresco decoration, a historic library and a manicured French garden. The estate belongs to the Premonstratensian order, with part of it open to the public for guided tours. Jasov lies just a short distance from Košice and, together with the nearby cave, makes an ideal excursion destination from accommodation in the area.
