Rokytnice nad Jizerou

Rokytnice nad Jizerou (German: Rochlitz an der Iser) is a town and mountain resort in the western Krkonoše (Giant Mountains). It lies in the Liberec Region, in the Semily district, in the elongated valley of the Huťský potok stream and along the left bank of the Jizera River. With around 2,500 inhabitants, Rokytnice is a pleasantly compact yet lively mountain settlement.

The town's character is shaped above all by its location amid the mountains. Rokytnice sits between the Stráž (782 m), Čertova hora (1,023 m) and Lysá hora (1,344 m) massifs, which form a striking backdrop to the whole valley. It's the closeness of these peaks and the Jizera River that gives the town its typical Krkonoše atmosphere and makes it a sought-after resort all year round.
