Veľký Choč

Vyšný Kubín

Veľký Choč (1,611 m) is the highest and most prominent peak of the Chočské vrchy mountains, its summit lying within the cadastral territory of the village of Vyšný Kubín on the border between Orava and Liptov. The cone-shaped peak with rocky sections offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views in Slovakia – in good weather you can see the Malá and Veľká Fatra, the Orava Beskids, and the Low and Western Tatras. Thanks to several marked trails, it's a popular year-round hiking destination. The ascent can be comfortably managed during a stay near Dolný Kubín as well.
