Sitno (1009 m) is the highest peak of the Štiavnica Mountains and one of the most popular hiking landmarks in central Slovakia. On its summit stand a stone lookout tower, the Andrej Kmeť mountain hut, and the remains of a medieval castle, while its craggy top is wrapped in legends of sleeping knights. On a clear day, the view stretches as far as the Low Tatras and Poľana. Easy hikes here start from Počúvadlianske Lake, making the area around Banská Štiavnica an ideal base for trips.
