Vrchlabí

Vrchlabí, nicknamed the gateway to the Krkonoše, is a charming town on the upper Elbe with a Renaissance château surrounded by an extensive park. The well-preserved square with arcades and a collection of wooden Krkonoše houses recall a rich mining and craft heritage. It's home to the Krkonoše National Park administration and the Krkonoše Museum, which brings the mountains' nature and history to life. Thanks to its location at the foot of the ridges, it's a pleasant starting point and base for a mountain stay.
