Zádielska tiesňava
Zádiel
Zádielska tiesňava is Slovakia's deepest ravine, carved by the Blatný potok stream through the massive limestone of the Slovak Karst. A comfortable nature trail runs through the canyon — over 300 metres deep in places — beneath sheer cliffs to the dominant rock spire of Cukrová homoľa, the tallest tower-like rock formation in Slovakia. It is a national nature reserve with rare flora and fauna and ranks among the most beautiful natural spots near Košice. The starting point in the village of Zádiel is just a short hop from accommodation in the region, ideal for a family nature outing.
