Český Šternberk (hrad)

Český Šternberk is an impressive Gothic castle that, over the centuries, was transformed into a chateau. It rises on a rocky ridge about 350 metres above the left bank of the Sázava river, near the D1 motorway in the Benešov district. Its silhouette above the river's bend is one of Central Bohemia's most iconic views, drawing visitors from afar.

The castle is closely tied to the Šternberk family, whose name it still carries today. Originally a Gothic seat, it underwent later renovations but has preserved its medieval setting and romantic character.
