Ľubovňa Castle stands on a limestone cliff above Stará Ľubovňa, once guarding the old trade route into Poland. It is among Slovakia's most-visited museums; the tour includes castle exhibitions, a view from the tower, and a replica of the Hungarian coronation jewels that were once hidden here. Below the castle spreads an open-air village with original log houses brought in from surrounding settlements. Thanks to its northern location, the castle makes a great excursion destination from accommodation in the region.
