Marhát
Nitrianska Blatnica
Marhát is a hill 748.2 metres above sea level, located in the Považský Inovec mountains. It rises above the village of Vozokany, about nine kilometres east of Piešťany, and is also the highest peak of the Krahulčie vrchy sub-range. Thanks to its elevated position, it's a prominent and popular hiking destination in this part of Slovakia.
Marhát is known among hikers mainly as an excellent viewpoint hill – an observation tower stands on its summit, making the trip an even more pleasant experience. In clear weather, wide views open up over the landscape on both sides of the range, which for many visitors is the main reason to climb up. Being the highest point of the sub-range guarantees a truly expansive panorama.
Marked hiking trails lead to Marhát from surrounding villages, including the area near Nitrianska Blatnica, mostly through peaceful forest. The climb suits reasonably fit hikers and families and can be done year-round. The hike can also be combined with visits to other attractions nearby, as the region beneath the Považský Inovec is rich in both natural and historical sites.
Marhát is an ideal choice for an active day outdoors while exploring the area around Piešťany, Topoľčany and Nitrianska Blatnica. If you want to get to know this region fully – including its spa and historical traditions – it's worth choosing accommodation nearby and making the climb to the tower part of a longer stay.
