Mariánské Lázně

Mariánské Lázně (German: Marienbad) is one of the most beautiful spa towns in Czechia and a gem of the Karlovy Vary Region. It lies in the Cheb district, about 27 kilometres southeast of Cheb, and is the youngest of the famous west Bohemian spa triangle. Elegant architecture, manicured parks and healing springs make it a place where relaxation meets the elegance of past centuries.

The town's exceptional status is confirmed by its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Since 2021, Mariánské Lázně has been part of it together with Františkovy Lázně and Karlovy Vary under the entry Great Spa Towns of Europe, commemorating the golden era of European spas. A walk through the town is thus also a walk through the history of the belle époque, when European high society flocked here.

At the heart of Mariánské Lázně are colonnades, springs and vast parks that invite peaceful strolls and relaxation. With around fourteen thousand inhabitants, the town is large enough to offer a rich programme while retaining a laid-back spa atmosphere. The surrounding forests and trails invite hiking and excursions into the nature of the Slavkovský les.

Mariánské Lázně is an ideal destination for a spa stay as well as for exploring western Bohemia. It combines wonderfully with visits to the other towns of the spa triangle and the surrounding countryside. To fully experience the region, it's worth choosing accommodation right in the town or nearby and treating yourself to several days among the colonnades, springs and peaceful park walks.
