Rožňava – Námestie baníkov a Strážna veža

Rožňava is an old mining town in the heart of the Gemer region and the Slovak Karst, home to one of the largest medieval squares in Slovakia. Its dominant feature is the 17th-century Watch Tower, over 35 metres tall and a symbol of the town, offering a view of the historic centre. On the square and in the surrounding lanes you'll find burgher houses, a cathedral and a mining museum recalling the town's rich mining past. The town is the natural hub of the region and an excellent base for exploring the castles and caves nearby.
