Zborovský hrad (Makovica)
Zborov
Zborov Castle, also called Makovica, is an extensive ruin on a forested hill of the Ondavská vrchovina range north of Bardejov. It ranks among the most beautiful and best-preserved castle ruins in eastern Slovakia and has been undergoing gradual restoration in recent years. It once guarded the road to Poland and was owned by prominent Hungarian noble families, including the Rákóczis. A pleasant forest climb and the views from the top make it a popular excursion destination from accommodation in the Šariš region.
