Jeskyně Na Turoldu
Mikulov
The Na Turoldu Cave lies in the nature reserve of Turold hill, which is located directly within the town of Mikulov in the Břeclav district of the South Moravian Region. Thanks to its position above the town it is easily accessible and combines a visit underground with a walk through a protected area full of limestone rocks.
The Na Turoldu Cave itself is 1,650 metres long. Together with the nearby Liščí díra cave it forms a connected system totalling more than 3,100 metres of passages, halls and chambers. It is the largest cave system in the Pálava Protected Landscape Area and Biosphere Reserve, making Turold a significant natural rarity for the entire region.
For visitors it's a chance to look beneath the surface of the Pálava limestones and discover what lies underground in this exceptional landscape. The surroundings of Turold hill are also inviting above ground — the protected reserve with its rocky views is a pleasant destination for a short hike and opens up lovely views of the town and its wine-growing landscape.
Mikulov is one of the most beautiful towns in South Moravia, and the Na Turoldu Cave combines wonderfully with a tour of the historic centre, the chateau and a tasting of local wines. If you want to enjoy Pálava to the full, it's worth staying overnight right in Mikulov or the surrounding wine villages — from peaceful accommodation you'll conveniently reach both the cave and the vineyards, with plenty of time left for the region.
