Bečov nad Teplou
Bečov nad Teplou State Castle and Chateau combines a medieval Gothic fortress with a Baroque chateau above the Teplá river valley. Its main attraction is the Reliquary of St. Maurus, a precious 13th-century Romanesque goldsmith's work considered the second most valuable movable monument in the Czech Republic after the Crown Jewels. Its dramatic story of concealment and rediscovery after World War II is one of the best known in the country. The complex also includes a romantic botanical garden, making Bečov a pleasant destination during a holiday in the area.
