Černé jezero
Železná Ruda
Černé jezero (Black Lake) is the largest glacial lake in the Šumava by area, lying in a quiet mountain hollow beneath the steep cirque wall of Jezerní hora. Dense forests surround its dark surface, above which rises a rock wall over 300 metres high, lending the lake a mysterious atmosphere. A comfortable forest path from the Špičák saddle leads to the lake, popular all year round. A chalet or guesthouse near Železná Ruda is an ideal base for exploring the Šumava's lakes and mountains.
