Poledník (rozhledna)
Prášily
The Poledník lookout tower stands on the peak of the same name in the heart of the Šumava plateaus south of Prášily. It was created by converting a former military watchtower, which took on a new role as a scenic landmark after the army moved out. After climbing more than two hundred steps, the gallery offers a panoramic view over the Šumava forests and the Bavarian borderland. A cottage or guesthouse near Prášily makes a good base for longer hikes to the tower and the surrounding lakes.
