Pramen Vltavy

Kvilda

The source of the Vltava marks the beginning of the longest river in Bohemia, which flows from here for hundreds of kilometres all the way to the Elbe. The tended spring, with its wooden enclosure and nature trail, lies on the slope of Černá hora amid peatland scenery a few kilometres from Kvilda. The path there follows wooden boardwalks across protected bogs with typical Šumava flora. Kvilda, the highest-situated village in Czechia, is an ideal starting point for both hiking and cross-country skiing, with comfortable accommodation.
